2015 in review by WordPress 😍

The stats helper monkeys prepared a 2015 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 8,300 times in 2015. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 3 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Thankyou so much to all my readers and viewers.Without, this blog will be nothing. 🙂

  1. Miss Claire lip creams

This was featured in so many Youtube beauty channels that I had to get it myself.I got shade no. 17A,a beautiful peachy pink. These lip creams are matte finish but doesn’t dry out the lips.Pigmentation is damn good. They are available only in few places,I guess,Khar beauty centre,Mumbai and Impressions,Karol Bagh.Retails for INR 195 but you will get them for a discount in these stores. Online its available on  Paytm, but its triple the original price. :-O I will review them soon.

2. Sivanna colors shimmer highlighters

This is also made famous by many beauty gurus.I am yet to order it .Perfect dupe of Bobbi Brown shimmer brick set.Pigmented and affordable and has many options for you to choose.Good highlighting palette for face and eyes.Retails for INR 400 but usually sites offer discounts continuously. 4. L’Oreal Paris Mat Magique All-In-One Pressed Powder

Loreal introduced this compact powder and to be honest, this is the most affordable compact powder when it comes to controlling oil on the T-zone for a longer duration and is pigmented enough for hiding minor flaws.Comes in various shades to suit Indian skintones.Packaging is also chic. 😉 Costs INR 400 but you will get it at a discount online. You can get it below.

This year,I didn’t find any affordable matte lipstick launches under INR 500 from well known brands, that actually last longer and don’t dry out the lips. 😦

Blogger interview with Sprinkle of Surprise!

Blogger interview

Isn’t the holiday season so exciting?

With the festivities and the New year around the corner,I wanted to bring something special for you all.Same thought was being shared by my fellow blogger Sprinkleofsurprise. 🙂 Don’t forget to check out her blog and give her a follow. She writes such amazing posts. I absolutely adore her style.

After much thought,we came to a fun post idea.We would be asking each other same 10 questions to get acquainted more and share our musings with you all. ;-)Don’t forget to check out her blogger interview post where you can read what I had answered. 🙂

So ,what are we waiting for?

  1. Hi! Please introduce yourself and let the readers know what your blog is all about.

Hi everyone! I’m Sprinkle of Surprise, and my blog is all about LIFE. I consider myself a lifestyle blogger, and my posts and content range a wide variety of topics! I love speaking about fashion and beauty, along with health/fitness, and books!

  1. How did you get started blogging, and what motivates you to keep going?

Honestly, it was almost on a whim! I didn’t realize what blogging was all about until I started seeing so many bloggers on Instagram! The more I saw them and followed them, the more intrigued I got and realized I’d love to do something like this! The other main reason I started to blog, was my love of writing. I’ve had a passion for writing since I was in middle school, but as I grew older, I didn’t have as much time to write for fun. But blogging has allowed for me to have a creative outlet and I love being able to write about topics that interest me! I’m motivated to keep going mostly because of my readers’ comments and feedbacks, and just love interacting with fellow bloggers! It’s like having a new group of friends on the internet!

  1. In 3 words, describe your style: Feminine, modest, modern
  2. Where do you see yourself/your blog in the next 6 months to a year (future of your blog)?

I hope to start other types of posts/sections on my blog. I’m actively thinking of new topics/sections to include on my blog, and hopefully it’ll be interesting for the readers. I also hope to have more and more contributors to my guest post section here (LINK), and hope to just collaborate with brands and bloggers even more as time goes on!

  1. Is there any advice you can give to anyone out there who may want to get into blogging?

GO FOR IT! Don’t worry about the # of followers you have when you start out, the most important thing is your content. As you grow your blog and your content, the followers will come naturally! Don’t forget to network, comment, and reach out to other bloggers. Speaking from my own experience, that’s the best way to make friends out in the blogging world and gain a slow but steady following!

  1. If you are marooned on an island, what is one product you can’t live without?

My iPhone! So I can use it to call someone to save me! 😛 Or take #selfies!

  1. Choose one product which you use in many ways.

That’s so tough! I don’t think there really is one product I use in many ways, I use products for their purpose, and don’t really use 1 product for multiple things….

  1. How would your friends/ other bloggers describe you?

I think they would describe me as responsible and friendly! I pride myself in my organizational skills and think I am quite responsible when it comes to knowing what action to take in particular situations. And I love meeting new people and getting to know others, so I definitely am friendly as well!

  1. Who are your top three favorite bloggers and why?

That is so tough! I think right now, and recently as I’ve gotten more into the blogging world, the 3 bloggers I look up to/love watching their videos/seeing their posts are these girls:

Dina Tokio—when I first started to watch her videos, I kind of found her annoying! But slowly she grew on me! Now as a new mom, she’s still at it! I love her videos and vlogs, because she’s quite funny and although some of her clothing style is a bit outrageous for me, she looks awesome in it!

Her blog :

Her YouTube channel:

Sazan Barzani—I love this girl! Her Instagram pics are to die for! Literally #goals! Her and her hubby (newlyweds), are the best Instagram duo! She also blogs + has a YouTube channel, and I love her bubbly personality which comes across in her pics and her videos! She also is younger, and her style + makeup looks are nice an natural, so I’m always trying to recreate some of her looks and seek inspiration from her style!

Her Blog:

Her YouTube Channel:

Ameena (Pearl Daisy)—she is the most consistent hijabi blogger I’ve seen out there! Even with kids and 3 businesses of her own, she manages to blog post on a daily basis and has YouTube videos twice a week! I’m in awe by her constant creativity and how she can come up with so much blog content!

Her Blog:

Her YouTube Channel:

  1. What are the things you want to explore/ do in blogging which you haven’t done so far.

I’d love to work with more brands and do more posts based on their products and such. I’d love to do collaborations with beauty/jewelry brands and just grow and learn how brand collaborations work!

I’d also love to sort of rebrand/relaunch the design of my blog, because I think the current setup/theme of my blog doesn’t clearly define my blog or me very much, so I’m working on some projects to hopefully get a new ‘look’ very soon!

Hope you enjoyed reading our answers.Wish you an amazing holiday! 🙂

Indian wedding reception makeup and look (Drugstore)

Wedding season has started in India and girls like me find it difficult what to dress or look in such occasions. Personally! I prefer my make-up light, but this time I chose a dramatic look keeping my accessories to the minimum. My focal point is the eye-look.

I chose an Anarkali suit which had pink brocade work all over off-white background, having embellishments near the neck. I have attached the picture below. The dupatta is shaded and has golden designs on it.The dress is not on the heavier side as I prefer it that way. Either my make-up is heavy or the dress I wear is.

I chose a handcrafted clutch which matched my suit and simple sandals with dual toned pink glitters on it. For earrings, I wore matching danglers.

  • After the face was done with foundation and concealer under the eyes, I moved towards my eye-look. I was aiming for a dewy finish so didn’t powder my face afterwards.
  • My eye make-up matched my dress color. On the eyelids, I use champagne colored shimmery eye-shadow and on the crease and outer corners, I used pink-purplish eye-shadow. All the eye-shadows were blended properly. I used the purple eye-shadow on my lower line and drew a thin plain black line on my lids. No cat-eye or winging. Just simple eye-liner look. For eyebrows, I used a light brown shade to line and fill them. Thankfully, I am blessed with naturally thick eyebrows so didn’t need much to do them.
  • I used the same champagne colored eye-shadow as my highlighter for inner corners of the eyes, center forehead, bridge of the nose and on the cheekbones. I skipped the blush as I already had so much pink going on my face. I contoured my face slightly, just to make my face softer. I have square jawline actually.
  • I used 2 lipsticks to match the dress shade. All the products used with their shades are mentioned below.
  1. Lakme invisible finish foundation-Shade 02
  2. Lakme absolute White intense concealer stick-Shade Medium 03
  3. Lakme Eye Color quartet botanica- Lightest shade/First shade(Champagne colored)
  4. Nicka K New York Perfect  10 Eye palette set- AP020-Pink and Purple eyeshadows from the set
  5. Freedom Bronzer- Shade 110
  6. Mistine 3D Brows’ secret- Shade 01
  7. Maybelline black gel liner
  8. Menow artist’s lipstick-Shade 012( Used as base)-Matte finish
  9. Blue Heaven lipstick-Shade Cherry Red(On top)

My hair was let loose with side parting. That’s what I did for a wedding reception. If you recreate the makeup, don’t forget to tag me in your pictures. I love seeing you all.

Pure Suds Lavender & Chamomile Face Gel Pack review

You know my affiliation with the herbal world. 😛 So here I am with the review of the face pack, which was sent as a full-size sample with my haul from Pure Suds.

My skin is sensitive combination type, which needs extra care during winters.I usually avoid using face packs as either they cause tingling sensation or they cause redness.I have used this and in a position to share whether this product fared for me or not.

Availability: Currently they are taking orders through their facebook page ,mobile and E-mail.You can view their product listing from the facebook page. They do ship outside India , but only in Sri Lanka and Nepal.

Phone no.- 09784591628

Price & Quantity: INR 250 for 90 g.The quantity will last you a long time as usage wise, only small amount is required during application. They take the payments through bank transfer only.

Ingredients: Attached in the pictures below.

Texture, color and fragrance:  The gel is more on the runny side.It looks dark green in color and when applied on the face, you do look like Shrek. 😀 😛 Fragrance is more on the flowery side but has a freshening feeling to it.It is not overpowering.

What the brand claims: This gel pack is composed of floral waters of lavender and chamomile with green clay and extracts of Pomegranate and Green tea which sooth the skin from sunburns, acne-prone skin, Dark spots and dull skin.

It is mask suited for all skin types as lavender and chamomile balance the skins sebum secretion and prevent our skin from either drying too much or becoming too oily.

One can experience instant brightness, Hydration, Glow, and a soothing calmness after a 5-10 minute application. Wipe off with a damp cotton or rinse with normal water.

Packaging: Comes in a transparent tub with golden screw type cap.The label is attached on the side which gets torn off when you twist the cap. 😦 The plastic can be deformed easily so not exactly travel friendly.I really liked the golden cap though.

My views: I applied this face pack with a brush and kept it for 5 minutes. This face pack is runny in nature so with the brush,it becomes easier to apply and also product wastage is less.I take out some product in a bowl, then use it so as to avoid contaminating the tub.

Within a minute of application,I sensed a tingling feeling, but after washing off my face, there was no redness. Weird,no?For the first time,my sensitive skin stayed calm and quiet.I would say this can suit sensitive skin. The brand claims it is for all skin types,so can’t comment on that but my combination skin felt soft and hydrated. Also,my T-zone didn’t seem too oily that day.Perfect for before party prep-up.I did notice a glow on my face.

Regarding scars and acne,I can only say, wait for atleast a month to show the results.I don’t have much such issues on my face.

My rating would be 4/5.The product does what it claims atleast in my skin-type.Price & quantity is sufficient. The packaging can definitely be improved .You can try this product if you are looking for a quick pampering to your skin, that is herbal. 🙂

See you all in my next post, byee, cya :-*

Santhoos handcrafted soaps lip balm review

Well today’s post is actually a late night entry to my blog as I have been busy doing my household chores. 😛 Anyway,I will be reviewing a lip balm which is completely organic.Yes! you heard me right. It doesn’t have even the minutest of chemicals in it.

About the brand: Santhoos handcrafted soaps is owned by Smitha Jacob who specialises in making soaps, lip balms, body butters etc. using ingredients devoid of chemicals or preservatives. So she handles the products in small batches only for preserving purposes. They also take custom orders based on ingredients you like.

Availability: They ship all over India.Regarding other countries,I will let you know after confirming. They take orders through phone and their facebook page. You can also contact them on their email.Contact details:

  • Email :
  • Whatsapp or Call : 9845276751

Ingredients: Since it was a custom order,I requested for a lip balm which didn’t have cocoa butter or olive oil as I am allergic to them.So I was suggested a coconut oil lip balm, perfect for winters. It has coconut oil( obviously 😛 ),Vitamin E and Honey.

  • Coconut Oil moisturises and also provides a coating to skin.
  • Honey holds the water content.
  • Vitamin E is full of antioxidants and protects the skin cells.

This is a winter lip balm only,as it is prone to melting in summers.I am okay with this as I will finish it before then. (I am a lipbalm addict. 😀 )

Price and quantity: Different ingredient lip balm costs differently.Mine costs INR 300 for 30g plus 100 bucks more for shipping. My lipbalms came in 2 tubs, each containing 15g.

Their lipbalms have 3 size options-10g,20g and 30g.Santhoos recommends 20g is sufficient for most people.Shipping charges are extra.Payment is through bank transfer only.

Texture and color: Natural,Off-white shade, smooth and spreads on the lips easily. There is no artificial coloring.

Fragrance: No fragrance at all.

Packaging:Simple small plastic tub with clasp-type opening. The label is affixed on the top.Very sturdy packaging, but is not leak proof in my case as my lipbalm will melt if kept till summers.

My views: I love this lipbalm a lot. That explains it,no?

It glides easily on the lips,no tugging required. You just have to swirl your finger in the tub.It gives a natural sheen to the lips and acts as a natural gloss. Also,it keeps me moisturised for 5-6 hours with only drinking or snacking.Heavy meals may require reapplication.Small size is good for travel so it stays with me wherever I go.

Best part is that it is completely organic  and you can get it customized!!! 🙂

Hope to see you all in my next post, till then bye, take care :-*

My Winter/Autumn body-care routine

Heya everyone!

Keeping up with my weekday posting schedule promise,I am sharing my body-care routine during winter/autumn season for normal to dry skin.

My body has always been on the drier side specially my hands.Winters just make it worse.Since October beginning,I have changed my body-care routine to combat dryness and itchiness. This winter I have introduced 2 items in my body-care,which has really helped me a lot.One is the body butter and another a serum for stretch marks/cellulite.

1.)I take bath using my shower gel Nutraclin from Ethicare remedies. This is good for all skin types. It doesn’t strip moisture from the skin and makes it soft.I have done a detailed review on it.Check it out here.On weekends,I take it a step more.I exfoliate my body using a walnut scrub with apricot and olive oil from Pure Roots.I bought this on my travel in Kashmir. It has slightly strong exfoliating property. For hands and feet,I exfoliate them using the scrub from Pure Suds.It has mild particles which is good for sensitive dry hands and feet.I will review these in the upcoming posts in detail. Both are moisturising.I wash them off with water.

2.) When the skin is still wet,I apply coconut oil all over my body. This makes sure that the oil forms a layer on the skin trapping the moisture beneath. Also,it makes it less oily.

3.) I pat my skin dry and apply the body butter from Pure Suds.I have done a detailed review here. You can read it.

4.) For my hands,I apply Avene Cold cream hand cream. This has the Avene thermal spring water in it,which has calming and softening effect on skin.Throughout the day, whenever,I wash my hands,I apply another hand cream called Nevlon moisturising cream. This was suggested by my dermatologist. However, anyone can use it.It is very moisturising and gets absorbed within 1/2 min. It doesn’t impart greasy feeling.

5.) At night, I use the body butter again and for my hands,I use another hand cream called Logifeel. It was also suggested by my dermat. It contains glycolic acid, suitable for dry skin. This cream gets absorbed instantly.I follow it up with Boroline cream on my hands and wear cotton gloves to sleep. Boroline is greasy,so gloves are must. Also its antiseptic and moisturising in nature, perfect for itchy dry hands. On my cellulite areas,I use the Juicy Chemistry cell construction serum.Apply the serum first before body butter. You can read my detailed review on the serum here.

Feel free to ask me any questions. 🙂
