Pure Suds Lavender & Chamomile Face Gel Pack review

Heya!

You know my affiliation with the herbal world. 😛 So here I am with the review of the face pack, which was sent as a full-size sample with my haul from Pure Suds.

My skin is sensitive combination type, which needs extra care during winters.I usually avoid using face packs as either they cause tingling sensation or they cause redness.I have used this and in a position to share whether this product fared for me or not.

Availability: Currently they are taking orders through their facebook page ,mobile and E-mail.You can view their product listing from the facebook page. They do ship outside India , but only in Sri Lanka and Nepal.

Phone no.- 09784591628

Email- puresudssoapery@gmail.com

Price & Quantity: INR 250 for 90 g.The quantity will last you a long time as usage wise, only small amount is required during application. They take the payments through bank transfer only.

Ingredients: Attached in the pictures below.

Texture, color and fragrance:  The gel is more on the runny side.It looks dark green in color and when applied on the face, you do look like Shrek. 😀 😛 Fragrance is more on the flowery side but has a freshening feeling to it.It is not overpowering.

What the brand claims: This gel pack is composed of floral waters of lavender and chamomile with green clay and extracts of Pomegranate and Green tea which sooth the skin from sunburns, acne-prone skin, Dark spots and dull skin.

It is mask suited for all skin types as lavender and chamomile balance the skins sebum secretion and prevent our skin from either drying too much or becoming too oily.

One can experience instant brightness, Hydration, Glow, and a soothing calmness after a 5-10 minute application. Wipe off with a damp cotton or rinse with normal water.

Packaging: Comes in a transparent tub with golden screw type cap.The label is attached on the side which gets torn off when you twist the cap. 😦 The plastic can be deformed easily so not exactly travel friendly.I really liked the golden cap though.

My views: I applied this face pack with a brush and kept it for 5 minutes. This face pack is runny in nature so with the brush,it becomes easier to apply and also product wastage is less.I take out some product in a bowl, then use it so as to avoid contaminating the tub.

Within a minute of application,I sensed a tingling feeling, but after washing off my face, there was no redness. Weird,no?For the first time,my sensitive skin stayed calm and quiet.I would say this can suit sensitive skin. The brand claims it is for all skin types,so can’t comment on that but my combination skin felt soft and hydrated. Also,my T-zone didn’t seem too oily that day.Perfect for before party prep-up.I did notice a glow on my face.

Regarding scars and acne,I can only say, wait for atleast a month to show the results.I don’t have much such issues on my face.

My rating would be 4/5.The product does what it claims atleast in my skin-type.Price & quantity is sufficient. The packaging can definitely be improved .You can try this product if you are looking for a quick pampering to your skin, that is herbal. 🙂

Biotique bio aloe vera face & body sun lotion review

Hi beautiful!!

Autumn has arrived in India and there is a slight dip in temperature, specially at night, which is making me crave tea all the time. But the Sun is still shining brightly and daytimes are usually hot.

In summers,I had combination-oily skin and preferred using gel sunscreens for a matte and cooling effect. But nowadays my skin has turned drier and I am having combination-dry skin. :-\ I never skip sunscreen, specially for my body.Face can be covered with a scarf which I usually do to combat pollution, dust and sun. Infact, most of the Indian girls look like a dacoit during summers sporting covered faces. 😛 😀

In search of a slightly moisturising sunscreen for my body,I ended up with Biotique bio aloe vera sunscreen. It actually saved me time, now that I can skip moisturiser for my body.

Availability: Easily available in nearby stores and online.

Price & quantity: INR 199 for 120ml. (y) Pretty reasonable and this bottle will last you for atleast 2 months based on the usage.I apply it only once on the exposed parts before going out.My work is usually indoors so I needn’t reapply.

Ingredients: Aloe vera, sandalwood oil, sunflower oil, almond oil, zinc and rest is lotion base. This is going to be my favourite as it is entirely herbal and preservative free. Also, this is dermatologically tested.

IMG_20151025_130255_HDR

Fragrance: I could smell sandal. After applying it,the smell will go away in a minute. It is not overpowering.

Texture: White runny liquid which feels light on the skin and leaves a cooling sensation. Also,it doesn’t feel sticky.

Packaging: Biotique has come a long way in terms of packaging. Now it is sporting white and green bottles. This plastic bottle is white in color with self color design on it.The label has all the details about the product. It has a green cap screwed on the top.Even though it looks sturdy, but if by mistake you leave the cap even minutely loose, then it will leak. Also after opening the cap and using it,there is always some product sticking around the opening, which looks messy. So for travel,I will say wrap this lotion in a plastic for safety.

Claims: SPF 30 broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen.

My views: I have been using this regularly after bath in the morning. This sunscreen has kept my skin moisturised and I haven’t tanned a single bit with this. Also,I use this like I use a moisturiser.Even after 2 months,my bottle is half full. 🙂 This hasn’t caused any reaction nor it disturbed my eczema skin.

SPF 30 is normal for daily use that involves 1-2 hours in sun i.e. public transportation or quick market tours.  In India usually people prefer public transport.Since this is broad spectrum.this will prevent sunburns or ageing.

This bottle says it is for normal to oily skin for face.I usually don’t use this for face but once I tried this. This worked quite fine when my skin was dry. Yes! you read it right.I will say this works for dry skinned beauties as well, but if you are having flaky dryness, stay away as this will make it look worse. :-\ My T-zone needed little compact powder after using this.My suggestion will be use this for body. For face, opt for gel sunscreens for oily to combination skin and liquid or cream based for normal to dry skin.

Overall verdict is 4/5.I would have given it full if its packaging been more safe.Otherwise,at this price, you are getting broad spectrum sunscreen so a definite buy. 🙂

Elisir skin serum review

Heya!

All the festivities around the corner, shopping, skincare and haircare, has finally stressed me out to a point that I just want to lay down on the bed and sleep. But then I remembered,it has been a month and I have to review a serum which was sent to me in September.

You know my association with organic and herbal world and infact,I am delighted to see that there has been an influx of people going green within last few years.Nowadays, people don’t care about fast results but are willing to wait for the results to show up using organic ingredients.

And this has been possible due to startups being operated by individuals who felt the need to create awareness about the sideffects of chemicals. One such startup I am talking about today is IWOWD skincare, started by lovely Ankita Das.

This brand was founded in August 2015.‘IWOWDskincare’ is a natural skincare startup. They want everyone to be conscious of what we put on ourselves. Keeping this in mind they have started this 100% natural skin-care brand. Their flagship product is called ‘Elisir’. It is all natural, preservative free face serum which intends to heal sun damage (tanning, sun spots, blemishes etc.,), reduces scars (acne etc.,) and rejuvenates for a brighter, even and firmer looking skin.

To know more about them, follow their website and facebook page.

I have recently forayed into the world of serums and honestly, this is my second serum which I have tried.I am posting this review after using it as prescribed for a month.

Price and quantity: INR 1099/- inclusive of all taxes for 30ml bottle. This is pretty cheap considering other high end brand serums available, that too with chemicals in it.

Packaging: Comes in a tinted glass bottle with a screwed on dropper cap.I find the packaging simple and easy to use due to the dropper system. It has label around the bottle which has the logo ,ingredients, directions to use and description. It would have been better if they mentioned the price on it as well.Since it is made up of glass,it may not be travel friendly.

Fragrance: I couldn’t make out any particular scent but I can say for sure, the smell seemed natural. It is not overwhelming so sensitive noses needn’t worry.

Availability: Currently they are taking orders through their facebook page and transactions through bank transfer.Since it is a startup, their website will get fully functional within sometime. They do not ship internationally so if you have a friend residing here, tell them to buy it for you. 🙂

Ingredients: Contains Argan oil, grapeseed oil, rosehip oil, jojoba oil, evening primrose oil, avocado oil, lavender oil and geranium essential oil.

Usage:Oily skin-1 drop in day and 2 drops at night

Dry skin-3 drops in day and 4 drops at night

Combination skin-2 drops in day and 4 drops at night.

Texture:Yellow in color and lighter in flow.It gets readily absorbed by the skin so apt for daytime use.

My views: This serum actually works!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😛 That explains a lot.

My skin was undergoing a weird behaviour.I spotted mild wrinkles on my forehead, dull and dry skin. After using it for more than 2 weeks according to combination skin,i saw my wrinkles fading away.I am not saying they vanished now.But fading is a great sign that if I continue to use this, they will go away.

Since only few drops are needed, this serum will last you for a long time.Mine hasn’t even reached till half.

Also my skin is soft and brighter.Overall I noticed a clear complexion. Also,my skin felt moisturized. It gets easily absorbed into the skin so no need to worry about soiling your pillows.

It is also good for acne prone skin as it didn’t break me out.Regarding blemish reduction,I will say that if its an old scar or blemish, then wait for sometime

I have sensitive skin. This serum didn’t cause any redness or itching. So good for people having sensitive skin. However, patch test is recommended. Also if someone is allergic to nuts, latex, grapeseed, nursing & pregnant mothers, should refrain from using this.

I would rate this 4.5/5 as it is herbal, all rounder skin serum, has detailed usage instructions,hassle-free to use and available at a good price.

PS: This is my honest review. 🙂

Hope to see you all in my next post.Enjoy your Navratris and Durga puja and stay wow. 🙂

Shahnaz Husain Shatone plus review

Heya!

How is the weekend treating you? Mine is going well till now, well mostly I am sleeping, eating and catching up with my favourite TV shows. 😛

I realized I don’t post much reviews on haircare, that’s because I can’t apply much on my hair for atleast a year as I have smoothened it and my salon told me only to use Loreal X-tenso range. Hmmn! I have broken this rule already. 😀 I have applied oils on my tresses, also undergoing ozone treatment and have used hair mask also, none of which I am supposed to use.

I was tired of my frizzy wavy hair so I smoothened it.But all the chemicals have rendered my scalp dandruff prone and hair fall.I was suffering from dandruff and hair fall since July and so tried ozone treatment .It decreases infections on the scalp due to dandruff and revitalises the hair follicles for hair growth. It is followed by Shahnaz Husain Shatone plus hair tonic. The salon told me to use the tonic at home also so I bought it and I must say,it has helped me a lot.

Availability- Available online and also in Shahnaz Husain parlours in India. For international customers,I think it is available on Amazon.com.

Price & quantity- INR 675 for 200ml. I find it reasonable as it is entirely herbal.

Ingredients- Triphala extract, shikakai extract(Soapnut/Acacia Concinna),bael giri extract, gurhal extract( Chinese rose),germinated mattar extract, methi seed extract, base to make it aqueous.

Fragrance and texture- Methi seed/fenugreek smell . It will stay for a minute only.So sensitive noses needn’t worry. 🙂 The color is brown and it is very light, almost like water .

Packaging- Simple white plastic bottle with fliptop cap.It is very sturdy and also has additional transparent plastic cap.So it is travel friendly.

How to use- Soak it in cotton wool and apply it on the scalp. Massage the scalp with finger tips and leave it on. It is non-oily.It is volatile so use cotton wool.

My views- After using it for more than a month,I am writing this review. When my dandruff condition was severe,I applied it every night and then rinsed it off in the morning. Now I do it weekly  or twice a week. My dandruff has greatly reduced and itchy scalp is gone.My hair has grown 2 cm which I can easily notice as my wavy hair and smoothened hair have an easily noticeable boundary now. Hair fall has reduced also.

Overall verdict- If you want something which is non-oily,herbal and shows effects within a month, then this might be for you.I had moderate dandruff so this worked for me.If you have more than this,it will take more time in being effective. It is easy to use so go for it.

SaND for soapaholics face cleanser review

Hi beautiful ladies!

This time I am late in posting. 😦 I am sorry.I had promised myself to post atleast 2 posts in a week.

Well!hoping that you are keeping up well,I would love to share my views on a product sent to me for review 15 days back. After using it diligently,I think I can finally say something on it.

I am sure you haven’t heard of this brand before, even in India. So,let me first acquaint you to this brand.Their products are inspired by traditional Indian home recipes for skincare, include natural artisan soaps, moisturizers, body creams, shampoos, conditioners etc.It started in August 2014 and their ingredients are directly coming from the kitchen. It started with a mother’s labour of love; a revelation. It began in 1991, when their Chief Crafter, Sangeeta, realized that her newborn was reacting to most available toiletries & cosmetics at the time. So,she plunged into the study of skincare. She took up aromatherapy, soap-making, lotion-crafting, and on a whim decided to dig into skincare remedies that her family had previously used. This unearthed a treasure trove of ancestral recipes gathered from her friends, family and community. Using these recipes, her research, and ingredients commonly found in the kitchen or home garden, Sangeeta was always experimenting with new formulae. They worked wonderfully for her child’s skin – so well in fact that the entire family hasn’t used commercial products in years. Over time, she started sampling her creations to friends and extended family. They were so well accepted that a dream to offer it to the market began germinating in her mind.

Here’s their site if you want to have a look or buy something. 🙂

I was sent a face cleanser meant for my skin as they had suggested it will work for me.It is named as Wipe out.I loved their tags, very quirky names they gave to their products. 🙂

Price and quantity: INR 243 for 30g,INR 405 for 50g and INR 810 for 100g.I was given the 30g product.I feel the 30 g jar will itself last you more than a month as the quantity required for the usage is very less. 🙂 Shipping charges are additional 120 bucks.

Availability: Right now, they sell only through their facebook page and website. Also,as far I came to know, they do ship internationally but for international orders, contact them on their email given on their site. 🙂

Ingredients:Every 10gm contains Oil blend of Almond Seed (Prunus amygdalus), Peanut Seed (Arachis hypogeal) & Vit E (64.67%), Emulsion of Honey (22.74%), Beeswax (6.34%), Potassium Sorbate (0.56%), Ess.Oil of Sandalwood Heartwood (Santalum album) (0.09%). I am allergic to peanuts and almonds and till now haven’t noticed any reaction,so the content is less for any visible reaction.

Packaging: It comes in a sturdy golden plastic jar.Since the product is thick,it neither sticks to the cap if inverted, nor does it leak.So a definite yay for travel. The jar has labelling of the brand, ingredient list, usage instructions and price.

Fragrance: Faint smell of sandalwood.

Texture: Thick waxy consistency

Usage:Take required amount and massage face, eyes and lips. Wipe with a damp cotton/cloth.

Shelf life: 4 months from date of packing.

Recommended for: Sensitive skin and makeup removal.

My views: When I first applied it,I didn’t see any redness or tingling feeling. Also,it easily removed my smudgeproof eyeliners in a ziffy. 🙂 So it stays true to its claims.

However, even after removing with cotton, there is a layer of the cleanser left on your skin which makes it feel oily/sticky.So if your skin is combination or oily, you may need to wash it off with your facewash. If you have dry skin, then a mild face wash is sufficient to remove the stickiness.

I had also used another method for this cleanser.I massaged the cleanser on my skin for a minute gently as its bit hard to glide on the skin. Then I washed it off with my face wash.Skipping the cotton part will retain more oils on my skin which acts as moisturizer.I do not feel the need to add moisturizer on my face after this if I use this method.

You can choose any method that suits you.I usually take the product as if I am applying face cream.Very little goes a long way.Do keep in mind that its more solid so it doesn’t spread well on the skin. 😦 Due to which ,you may tend to massage it more which is not good for skin. I follow the 5 dot rule on my face.

My skin is more soft and supple post its usage. Not a single trace of makeup can be seen on my face. Also my cotton pad comes off dirty whenever I used it,so it cleans well too.

My rating is 3.5/5 as a secondary face wash is needed to remove the traces and also because it is bit difficult to work with on the skin.Maybe they can make it more softer in consistency. 🙂 Overall you can use it as a makeup remover if the cleansing part appears cumbersome to you. 🙂
