Beauty standards of Germany vs India

Heya everyone!

How you doin’ ? 😉

I moved to Germany exactly a year back for my studies.  Ofcourse, the studies and new culture along with friends and parties take a lot of time from my hand. But here I am. 🙂 My idea of beauty changed a lot after coming here. You will read that shortly.

Let me introduce you to the average weather here. I live in southern Germany, where one gets an ample amount of Sun throughout the year, specially during Summers. Summer temperatures range between 25-38 celsius.Winters on the other hand are dry and windy with temperatures below 20 all the time.

So for an Indian, how does the beauty market of Germany differs keeping in mind the weather conditions?

  1. Fitness Pro- In India, you don’t see many women hitting the gym or fitness classes. Most of the young ones go for a walk or jog,the middle-aged ones do Yoga or walk and the old ones? Forget about them…Maybe they go for a walk too,but not at a pace which defines it fitness level. Men on the other hand, specially the young generation till 30 years, either play a sport or go to gym extensively. Beyond that age, its restricted to walks only. In Germany, all age groups and gender hit the gym regularly. There are more Yoga courses here than I could find in my hometown in India.  I used to do home exercises along with Yoga, but on landing here,I joined a gym.I must say,it brings a different level of fitness and energy to you.
  2. Go Natural- The weather here is mostly perfect,so there is no fear of melting/dry makeup, but in spite of that, German women prefer living without makeup or maybe they are using a natural makeup look. I have hardly seen anyone wearing a bright lipstick or eyeshadow (maybe during parties or festivals) . In India, it’s true the humid summers wreak havoc on your makeup,so most of the women avoid it,but if you go to the big cities, women do embrace going outside with full face of makeup in varied hues. When I was working, my makeup was restricted to a coloured eyeliner(matching with my attire) and a nude lipstick atmost. Now,it’s all about just using a tinted sunscreen and compact powder. 😀
  3. Grayscale Life- This can be said for most of the Europeans. People love wearing various shades from B/W spectrum during winters. This amuses me as I think winters are already gloomy with gray skies,on top of it,people choose to wear matching clothes to make it more disheartening (There are some occasional rebels 😉 ). Summers are entirely different here. With the bright Sun,clothes become more colourful and eye-catchy. If you visit India, you would notice that we are not biased against any season. For us ,colour is part of life and we are not afraid to wear it everyday.
  4. Skincare Saviour- This is in harmony with point 2. You have variety of skincare labels to choose from when you visit an Apotheke (drugstore). Germany prides itself on good skincare and this shows in the German women. The reason why they go natural is because they are more concerned about their skin and prefer making it flawless, rather than layering it up with cosmetics. Indians usually opt for regular skincare ,influenced by the telemarketing or the ones the doctors suggest. But I have seen that there is an increase in awareness about beauty products nowadays, specially among young women. 🙂

These are all my observations till date. I know I have more to learn. Also, it’s just a personal perspective so I hope no one gets offended. 🙂

If you find anything worth mentioning or something I forgot , jot it down in the comment section below. 😉

Till next time, Cya.

Giving up?

Hi everyone!

Hope you are doing great. Ah! I know, it has been ages I wrote my thoughts here. So let me explain what I have been doing since last year, since the time this blog went dormant.

I decided last August(2016) ,that I need to do something about my life, maybe study again or change job. I decided on the first one. I started preparing for the same, and that involved studying for GRE and IELTS. Till December, I was fully engrossed in it. From January onwards, my college applications took most of my time. If anyone of you has gone through it, hats off to you! It is so cumbersome. This continued till June, along with various other formalities.

If you have been following me on Instagram, then you would know, I have been taking Deutsch lessons as well and it is still going on. It is a tough language, and I need it for my life over there in Germany. Yep! I said it. I will be soon shifting to Germany for my Masters studies and will be spending a long time over there.

With so much going on in my life, I try posting mini reviews on my Instagram account. So that’s where you can find your answers. I am active there and its much easier to handle it. Once I reach there, I will post mini reviews on German beauty brands as well.  😉

So the answer to the title, “Am I giving up my blog? “, is NO. I will be continuing the same work, through my Instagram account, and this blog domain, will remain active for my occasional travelogues.

Wish me luck! I am scared a little for venturing outside my beloved India. :-\

Take care lovelies :-*

Does it matter?

Hi!!

Hope you are doing well! I guess this post will be little personal than what I usually post.

I had my birthday on Monday i.e. 13th March. I am not like those who wants their facebook bombarded with birthday wishes from people who wish out of courtesy. So obviously, I had removed the Birthdate. Naturally, I didnt see any wishes from anyone. I have been doing this since 2014.

It is that part of life when I don’t even get bothered anymore. My family wishes and some close friends. That makes it about 7-8 people. Infact, some friends with whom I talk regularly, they also forgot.

I do understand the busy schedules and stressful life. But the most weird thing is, I am not angry and neither I am feeling weird that they didn’t wish me. I am still talking with them and consider them my friends.

Is it normal? Has this happened with you where you are least bothered ? Am I too easy for everyone?

Close-up and personal-Bloggerlife

Heya!

Mid week!I know, all you can think of ,”Just 2 more days”.

I was just relaxing after coming back from my office and was pondering over this subject for a very long time. Infact,I wanted to post something about this, but couldn’t get the courage to do it.

Being a blogger isn’t an easy task.Specially if you are a part-time blogger where you are juggling between your office/college and blog. I have joined blogosphere approximately 1.5 years back and I have literally posted even when I am sleepy, just to stick with the schedule.Currently,I haven’t been able to post mid week due to excessive work. 😦 Will work on it for sure.

All the reviews I post, are genuine and honest.Just because a brand has sent me a sample, doesn’t mean ,I will sugar coat it.I have sensitive skin and I am trying out all these products so that you may find it helpful in buying them.Even when I am suffering from eczema,I make sure to test a little amount of the sample sent, for your benefit. So just to make it clear, for the readers and the brands,I will ALWAYS post honest reviews no matter what. C’mon! I am literally harming my sensitive skin to post ,I will never sweet talk considering my skin. 😛

When I introduce myself, the first reaction that comes from the people,” Oh wow! you get so many free stuffs.” NO!That is so not true.I am an amateur blogger and that means,I don’t get free samples all the time.Secondly,I buy most of the products, even when they are full size,to test it for myself and then review it.If its sent to me,I always mention it in my blog posts.I am not the type of blogger, who wants free stuffs,I am purely here to share my views on anything be it free or paid stuff.I will never promise a brand about positive reviews in the hope of getting free samples. That is the type of honesty I have.

My decision to turn into a blogger rose from the fact that there are hardly any Indian blogger who posts reviews for eczema-prone people. You won’t believe,I have bought products fit for sensitive skin, and it still didn’t work for me.Our skintype is sensitive but it is of different kind.I mention in most of the reviews, whether the product will work for eczema-prone people .

Hope I have been able to share what my site is about.Just thought to share with you all, what I feel about my blog. 🙂 Thank you so much for all your support. It means so much to me. 🙂 Take care, bye :-*

2015 in review by Wordpress 😍

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2015 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 8,300 times in 2015. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 3 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Thankyou so much to all my readers and viewers.Without, this blog will be nothing. 🙂

Blogger interview with Sprinkle of Surprise!

Blogger interview

Heya!

Isn’t the holiday season so exciting?

With the festivities and the New year around the corner,I wanted to bring something special for you all.Same thought was being shared by my fellow blogger Sprinkleofsurprise. 🙂 Don’t forget to check out her blog and give her a follow. She writes such amazing posts. I absolutely adore her style.

After much thought,we came to a fun post idea.We would be asking each other same 10 questions to get acquainted more and share our musings with you all. ;-)Don’t forget to check out her blogger interview post where you can read what I had answered. 🙂

So ,what are we waiting for?

  1. Hi! Please introduce yourself and let the readers know what your blog is all about.

Hi everyone! I’m Sprinkle of Surprise, and my blog is all about LIFE. I consider myself a lifestyle blogger, and my posts and content range a wide variety of topics! I love speaking about fashion and beauty, along with health/fitness, and books!

  1. How did you get started blogging, and what motivates you to keep going?

Honestly, it was almost on a whim! I didn’t realize what blogging was all about until I started seeing so many bloggers on Instagram! The more I saw them and followed them, the more intrigued I got and realized I’d love to do something like this! The other main reason I started to blog, was my love of writing. I’ve had a passion for writing since I was in middle school, but as I grew older, I didn’t have as much time to write for fun. But blogging has allowed for me to have a creative outlet and I love being able to write about topics that interest me! I’m motivated to keep going mostly because of my readers’ comments and feedbacks, and just love interacting with fellow bloggers! It’s like having a new group of friends on the internet!

  1. In 3 words, describe your style: Feminine, modest, modern
  2. Where do you see yourself/your blog in the next 6 months to a year (future of your blog)?

I hope to start other types of posts/sections on my blog. I’m actively thinking of new topics/sections to include on my blog, and hopefully it’ll be interesting for the readers. I also hope to have more and more contributors to my guest post section here (LINK), and hope to just collaborate with brands and bloggers even more as time goes on!

  1. Is there any advice you can give to anyone out there who may want to get into blogging?

GO FOR IT! Don’t worry about the # of followers you have when you start out, the most important thing is your content. As you grow your blog and your content, the followers will come naturally! Don’t forget to network, comment, and reach out to other bloggers. Speaking from my own experience, that’s the best way to make friends out in the blogging world and gain a slow but steady following!

  1. If you are marooned on an island, what is one product you can’t live without?

My iPhone! So I can use it to call someone to save me! 😛 Or take #selfies!

  1. Choose one product which you use in many ways.

That’s so tough! I don’t think there really is one product I use in many ways, I use products for their purpose, and don’t really use 1 product for multiple things….

  1. How would your friends/ other bloggers describe you?

I think they would describe me as responsible and friendly! I pride myself in my organizational skills and think I am quite responsible when it comes to knowing what action to take in particular situations. And I love meeting new people and getting to know others, so I definitely am friendly as well!

  1. Who are your top three favorite bloggers and why?

That is so tough! I think right now, and recently as I’ve gotten more into the blogging world, the 3 bloggers I look up to/love watching their videos/seeing their posts are these girls:

Dina Tokio—when I first started to watch her videos, I kind of found her annoying! But slowly she grew on me! Now as a new mom, she’s still at it! I love her videos and vlogs, because she’s quite funny and although some of her clothing style is a bit outrageous for me, she looks awesome in it!

Her blog : http://www.daysofdoll.com/

Her YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/dinatokio

Sazan Barzani—I love this girl! Her Instagram pics are to die for! Literally #goals! Her and her hubby (newlyweds), are the best Instagram duo! She also blogs + has a YouTube channel, and I love her bubbly personality which comes across in her pics and her videos! She also is younger, and her style + makeup looks are nice an natural, so I’m always trying to recreate some of her looks and seek inspiration from her style!

Her Blog:  sazan.me

Her YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/SazanBarzani

Ameena (Pearl Daisy)—she is the most consistent hijabi blogger I’ve seen out there! Even with kids and 3 businesses of her own, she manages to blog post on a daily basis and has YouTube videos twice a week! I’m in awe by her constant creativity and how she can come up with so much blog content!

  1. What are the things you want to explore/ do in blogging which you haven’t done so far.

I’d love to work with more brands and do more posts based on their products and such. I’d love to do collaborations with beauty/jewelry brands and just grow and learn how brand collaborations work!

I’d also love to sort of rebrand/relaunch the design of my blog, because I think the current setup/theme of my blog doesn’t clearly define my blog or me very much, so I’m working on some projects to hopefully get a new ‘look’ very soon!

Hope you enjoyed reading our answers.Wish you an amazing holiday! 🙂
