Aroma Essentials Shea moist review

Hello peeps!

Summers are here and so is dehydrated skin.No matter how much you drink water, the summers in North India will dry you out.I personally get chapped lips and dry cheeks.

If you have normal-combination skin, then look no further as this moisturizer provides the nourishment with added fresh scent.

Availability: You can buy their products from contacting them on their facebook page & Instagram account @aromaessentials. The owner, Madhurima, will reply to your queries and messages therein. Their products are also available at selected places in India as given below and internationally, they ship also.

Price and quantity: INR 250 for 35g.It is kind of less quantity but the reason is it is freshly made and to be used in a short time due to absence of preservatives. That is my reason though. 😛 You need very less to apply on face and neck.Since I have combination skin,I take a pea-sized amount, rub it a little between my palms and then pat it gently on my face and neck. That is, no gliding or rubbing the product on the skin.I keep on patting till I feel the skin has got the moisture it needs.Another reason is I also have sensitive skin,so any rubbing causes redness easily. They take additional 100 INR for shipping within India, so best to order 2-3 products at once.

Ingredients: Shea butter, soya lecithin and chamomile. Now soya lecithin is a food emulsifier, as in, it is used in food industries, for the oils and water to mix as you know they don’t mix easily.( Some science fact. 😛 ) If it is worthy of digesting, then skin is obviously nothing compared to it. You can find this in chocolates, mayonnaise etc.

Fragrance: Strong chamomile smell which is actually calming and refreshing. If you have a sensitive nose, then I have nothing further to say.  😦

Texture: It is fluffy in texture and very light. Easily gets absorbed into the skin and looks almost like a gel.It is offwhite in color.

IMG_20160406_230455_518

Packaging: Comes in a small plastic tub with all the usual labels. For ingredients, you can ask them easily before buying. The tub is sturdy and leak-proof so it is travel-friendly.I carry this tub with me daily for emergency moisturization.

My views: On my combination skin,it provides optimum moisturization however,T-zone needs dusting after 3-4 hours.Dry skin may need reapplication of this . Oily skin may not benefit from this but Aroma Essentials do have other products which cater to particular skin type.

This fits my sensitive skin also without causing any tingling or redness. It didn’t cause any effect on my eczema also,so I am relieved.

For dry weather, you may need more quantity while applying so the tub may not last full month. But atleast you can be sure that the quantity has been decided based on its expiry.

Overall verdict is try it.I love it for its entirely herbal contents, size, freshness and cooling effect.Their product list is attached below.

Aroma Essentials Carrot Sunblock review

Heya !

Keeping up with my regular posting schedule, I am back. Summers are here and you need your saviour ,right? So,sunscreen and summers go hand in hand, and I thought, this is the right time to do this.

I am going to review another product from the Aroma Essentials herbal brand. In my earlier post where I talked about the facial mist, I had told that I was sent samples for review. I am going to link my previous post if you want to have a look. You can read about the brand over there. This sunblock is one of the samples and I must say, this works amazing, honestly.

IMG_20160326_110113_059

Availability: You can buy it from their facebook site & Instagram account @aromaessentials by inboxing them or contact them on +91-9886497272 / 7760988272.They take the payment through bank transfer. They ship worldwide as well. Their products are also available at selected places in India as shown below.

11731730_1020539217978769_6689931176329189138_o

Price & quantity: I received the 35g jar which costs INR 300.They do have shipping charge of INR 100 so best to buy 2-3 products at once. Since this is in cream texture for normal-dry skin,so you need only a small amount for face and neck. This will last you a month without reapplication.

Fragrance and texture: Strong peppermint smell and the formulation is whipped cream. The smell vanishes after sometime. It is light yellow in color and light in texture also. Gets absorbed easily. However, on my T-zone, it gets oily after sometime. So it is apt for normal-dry skin.

IMG_20160326_105919_979

Packaging: Comes in white plastic jar with screwed lid. All the labels are given. Ingredients list is missing which you can easily ask Madhurima, the owner or see on their Facebook page. Since mine was a sample, so the prices are missing also. But I looked it up in their catalogue. I travelled with this jar on my Gwalior tour and didn’t face any leakage or breakage. So this is sturdy and obviously travel-friendly. Small size is a plus point.

Ingredients:  Carrot Oil,  Carrot seed oil , Carrot juice, Zinc oxide ,Lavender, mint and icecream thickener glyceryl mono stereate.

My views: All their products are made 2-3 days prior to sending them which I got to know on enquiring them. So this is definitely freshly-made and shows how much natural ingredients they use.Expiry is after 6 months.

Herbal sunscreens need reapplication more often than their chemical counterparts as the SPF truly comes from the carrot juice and carrot-seed oil which has an SPF of 38-40.When I had applied it, I forgot to reapply it due to hectic tour so I got tanned 1 shade darker, which was acceptable as I knew how to remove that tan easily in a week. For no tan, it’s best to reapply every 3-4 hours if you are outside in the Sun. Do not be careless like me. 😀

So speaking in terms of its efficacy, I will still say it works, as purely on the basis of herbal ingredients; it did its job fairly well for 6 hours at a go without reapplication and without causing major skin tanning. Also, note that, carrot sunblock will protect you from only UVB rays,  the chief cause of skin reddening and sunburn. UVA rays cause skin-ageing.

Also, on my sensitive combination skin, it didn’t cause any reaction or tingling. My eczema patches also didn’t flare up. My T-zone needed compact after 2 hours though. Absorption power is fast. I didn’t notice any white cast post usage.

This sunscreen isn’t waterproof. However, the brand does have a sunscreen for swimmers which will get the work done. Since I stay in dry summers, I didn’t face any sweating.

Overall verdict is go for this sunscreen as it is herbal, suits sensitive skin and isn’t giving any ghostly appearance. 😛

Nivea Men Sensitive Aftershave balm as primer!

Hey beautiful!

After coming across many youtubers and bloggers talking about this, I decided, let me share what I feel about this men’s product.

I was on the lookout for a budget primer and I came across reviews of this product. Trust me! I was scared when testing this on my sensitive combination skin. So, let’s move on to how it fared for me.

IMG_20160125_154446_112_opt

Price & quantity: INR 235 for 100 ml. I got it from Amazon.in at INR 191. (Discount lover! 😛 ) Compared to other primers, this is cheap and has ample quantity.

Availability: Available in drug stores and also online all over the world.

Ingredients: IMG_20160125_154501_394_opt

Fragrance: ‘Manly’ is the word. Traditional aftershave lotion smell. It vanishes after a minute.

Texture & color: It is runny, white in color. Glides easily on the skin. Takes time to seep into the skin but you can work with your foundation or bb cream after applying it.

IMG_20160125_154143_630_opt

Packaging: Comes in a white plastic bottle with labelling and usual instructions. It has a screwed type cap which is sturdy. No leakage so travel friendly.

Description: The extra gentle and alcohol-free formula contains soothing and healing ingredients like Chamomile, Vitamin E and Provitamin B5 that help care for sensitive, just shaved skin. It is quickly absorbed into the skin and leaves it feeling soothed and moisturised.

Skin compatibility dermatologically approved.

IMG_20160125_154604_626_opt

How It Works

Redness-free and irritation-free skin that improves over time.

How to use product

Apply liberally on the shaved area and massage into skin. For best results, shave with the Nivea Men Sensitive Shaving Gel or Foam.

My views: I had used a BB cream, as its texture is thicker than foundations and can be used to test whether it glides easily or not. Primer is supposed to make a smooth canvas on your face, fill in pores and hold your make-up for longer time.

I apply my primer on moisturised face. At first sight, it made me look oilier. I had used it as I use my moisturiser. Waited for a minute to let it sink in, but it didn’t quite do so. So I went ahead with my BB cream. I blended everything with my fingers and I must say, it does work. The BB cream easily blended on my skin. My face didn’t have the flaky patches. I got the dewy finish which I prefer during winters. You can top it up with compact for matte finish.

What I felt-

  1. Smoothens the skin
  2. Fills in small pores. Don’t know about large ones as I don’t have any.
  3. Moisturises the face as it doesn’t have any alcohol,so no more drying effect.
  4. Provides a cooling effect
  5. Controls oil easily in winters for 4-5 hours for combination skin
  6. Didn’t cause any reaction on my eczema-prone sensitive skin.

Dry skinned beauties may need a moisturiser underneath. Oily skin can skip moisturiser entirely. Girls who have sensitive skin, can try this. For summers, I need to test it, but I guess, compact will be necessary.

Overall verdict: You can buy this! This is cheap, works well and is travel-friendly. It fills the pores to some extent and is good for all skin types. Here’s the link if you don’t find it in Indian drug stores:

Pure Suds Lavender & Chamomile Face Gel Pack review

Heya!

You know my affiliation with the herbal world. 😛 So here I am with the review of the face pack, which was sent as a full-size sample with my haul from Pure Suds.

My skin is sensitive combination type, which needs extra care during winters.I usually avoid using face packs as either they cause tingling sensation or they cause redness.I have used this and in a position to share whether this product fared for me or not.

Availability: Currently they are taking orders through their facebook page ,mobile and E-mail.You can view their product listing from the facebook page. They do ship outside India , but only in Sri Lanka and Nepal.

Phone no.- 09784591628

Email- puresudssoapery@gmail.com

Price & Quantity: INR 250 for 90 g.The quantity will last you a long time as usage wise, only small amount is required during application. They take the payments through bank transfer only.

Ingredients: Attached in the pictures below.

Texture, color and fragrance:  The gel is more on the runny side.It looks dark green in color and when applied on the face, you do look like Shrek. 😀 😛 Fragrance is more on the flowery side but has a freshening feeling to it.It is not overpowering.

What the brand claims: This gel pack is composed of floral waters of lavender and chamomile with green clay and extracts of Pomegranate and Green tea which sooth the skin from sunburns, acne-prone skin, Dark spots and dull skin.

It is mask suited for all skin types as lavender and chamomile balance the skins sebum secretion and prevent our skin from either drying too much or becoming too oily.

One can experience instant brightness, Hydration, Glow, and a soothing calmness after a 5-10 minute application. Wipe off with a damp cotton or rinse with normal water.

Packaging: Comes in a transparent tub with golden screw type cap.The label is attached on the side which gets torn off when you twist the cap. 😦 The plastic can be deformed easily so not exactly travel friendly.I really liked the golden cap though.

My views: I applied this face pack with a brush and kept it for 5 minutes. This face pack is runny in nature so with the brush,it becomes easier to apply and also product wastage is less.I take out some product in a bowl, then use it so as to avoid contaminating the tub.

Within a minute of application,I sensed a tingling feeling, but after washing off my face, there was no redness. Weird,no?For the first time,my sensitive skin stayed calm and quiet.I would say this can suit sensitive skin. The brand claims it is for all skin types,so can’t comment on that but my combination skin felt soft and hydrated. Also,my T-zone didn’t seem too oily that day.Perfect for before party prep-up.I did notice a glow on my face.

Regarding scars and acne,I can only say, wait for atleast a month to show the results.I don’t have much such issues on my face.

My rating would be 4/5.The product does what it claims atleast in my skin-type.Price & quantity is sufficient. The packaging can definitely be improved .You can try this product if you are looking for a quick pampering to your skin, that is herbal. 🙂

Skincare & Makeup haul

Heya!

I usually don’t write about hauls as I shop in bits and pieces. But this time,a fellow blogger requested me to do a haul post and coincidently, I had shopped a lot in October(GOSF 2015)  and November.

I had shopped practically from all the leading online sites like Amazon,Flipkart and Jabong. Also,I collaborated with Pure Suds, who specialises in handmade organic skincare .Currently they are offering winter discount of 30% on all their products. So don’t wait!!!I did buy some stuffs from local area.

From Flipkart,I bought a bronzer from Freedom makeup. It retails for INR 450,but I stole it for INR 290. :-P. It is actually a compact powder, but having a shade of a bronzer. Also it has fine shimmer in it,so perfect for bronzing.Who would want shiny compact powder in their kitty? 😛

IMG_20151121_134744_HDR

From Jabong,I bought a huge tub of aloe vera gel (500g)as my Patanjali aloe vera gel was getting finished. Also I wanted to try some other brand.I had 336 Jabong credits which were expiring by October end so perfect timing to splurge. It retails for INR 321 and total cost was 421 after adding handling charges,so I used my credits and paid INR 85 only. 😀 We girls love deals. 😛 Also,I treated myself to a brown kohl from MUA called Malt choclate, which has fine glitter particles which don’t show much.It costs for INR 300 but I got it for INR 166.

IMG_20151120_200625_HDR

IMG_20151120_200921_HDR

I got my first professional brush set from BS-MALL and Real techniques miracle sponge from Amazon.in. These are my prized possessions. 😛 The brush set costs INR 1390 for 5 face and 5 eye brushes, but I got the deal for INR 1000. Also I got a free leather pouch for the brushes. The Real Techniques miracle complexion sponge retails for INR 720 including shipping. The price keeps on changing depending on sellers.Guess, how much I paid? INR 455. 😛

Around Diwali,I bought a mason jar candle of INR 85,though its MRP is INR 250,having sandalwood scent, but unluckily there’s no scent on burning. 😦 Nonetheless,it looks beautiful when lit.The candle was purchased from SRS .Also,I visited the art and crafts fair Shilpotsav, held in my city, around Diwali and I came home with this cute little drawer box, which is apt for storing daily wear baubles or small makeup items.Lot of bargaining was done for this purple glittery box. Finally it ended on INR 300.

Lastly,I spent on organic skincare from Pure suds. You can find them on facebook.I was sent 2 full size samples to try if I purchased some products from their range.I got the Body butter – 899/ and Mango lip butter- 150/- . Full size sample: 1) face gel pack lavender chamomile 2) hand and foot scrub. All these were sent in cutesy boxes with ribbons.

I will do a review post on the eyeliner ,bronzer and pure suds haul soon.Hope you liked my haul post.Do share whether you want me to do such posts more. 🙂

Till the next time, byee, take care, keep on splurging. 😉

My daily Autumn/Winter skincare routine

Heya!

It’s been a long time since I posted something. I am so sorry. 😦 I was caught up with the festivities around here.It involved home decorating, lighting the balconies with lamps and earthen pots and ofcourse, decorating yourself. 😉 If you are following me on Instagram, you may have seen me posting a video on my room decor and a picture of me in traditional attire and makeup for Diwali,an Indian festival of lights.

Now that I am finally over with them, let me post a skincare routine for women suffering from combination/dry/sensitive skin for autumn to winter season.Hope this helps you. 🙂

I follow a very simple daily skincare routine as I beleive we women, juggling from home to office don’t have so much time to pamper ourselves on a daily basis. :-\ I will post a weekly home facial routine soon for that extra time we reserve for ourselves on the weekends. 😉

I cleanse my face twice a day with Avene emollient cleansing gel for dry to sensitive skin. This cleans the face well but may make the skin bit drier. If I have makeup on,I remove it first prior to cleansing with coconut oil.

After cleansing ,I spray the Avene thermal springwater on my face and neck to tone the pores and also cool down my skin and reduce the redness.I have eczema patches on my cheek,so this has helped it a lot.I let it air dry.

I follow this with Patanjali aloe vera gel.I massage it gently all over my face and neck and wait for a minute or two to let it get absorbed.Aloe vera gel is good for dry flaky skin or sensitive skin.Actually for all skin types. Oily skin women may stop their skincare routine at this.Aloe vera gel moisturizes your skin, soothes the sensitive skin and reduces itchiness and dryness. It doesn’t clog the pores. I have done a post on goodness of aloe vera gel.Do check it out here.

Since I have dry patches,I apply Nevlon moisturizing cream on my dry patches for additional moisturization.I use this for daytime as this is readily absorbed into the skin without causing greasiness. For nightime or at home days,I use Avene Trixera+ selectiose emollient cream on the dry patches only, since this is very rice in nature. This is good for eczema people as it reduces the dryness.Check my instagram for 1 month result, where my flakiness disappeared after applying this.

For luscious lips,I have been using a natural lip balm from Puresuds. This is highly moisturizing and keeps my lips hydrated for 6-8 hours without eating/drinking and for 4-5 hours with drinking/eating.

This entire process takes approximately 4-5 minutes. 🙂 Isn’t that simple! You must have noticed that I am using Avene products a lot.In no way am I promoting or advertising for them.I am using the products as they are genuinely good for sensitive/problematic skin.I have seen the results and also my dermatologist suggested me to use. However, they are costly, atleast in India. But good things come at a price. 😛

Also,Nevlon ,Puresuds and Patanjali are Indian brands,so you may not find them in your country or online. But you can use their equivalent.I am sure aloe vera gel is hugely available worldwide,so is the lip balm containing shea butter or mango butter. You can use any moisturizing cream that suits you.

I have been following this routine for more than a month, and my skin texture has improved,so is the glow.Earlier I used to have serums in my routine but now I have kept it simple.

If you want me to review any of the products used above,do write in the comments section below. I will be happy to post on them.

Do watch out for the weekly home facial routine I will be posting soon. 🙂 See you all in my next post, byee, take care lovelies. 🙂

Biotique bio aloe vera face & body sun lotion review

Hi beautiful!!

Autumn has arrived in India and there is a slight dip in temperature, specially at night, which is making me crave tea all the time. But the Sun is still shining brightly and daytimes are usually hot.

In summers,I had combination-oily skin and preferred using gel sunscreens for a matte and cooling effect. But nowadays my skin has turned drier and I am having combination-dry skin. :-\ I never skip sunscreen, specially for my body.Face can be covered with a scarf which I usually do to combat pollution, dust and sun. Infact, most of the Indian girls look like a dacoit during summers sporting covered faces. 😛 😀

In search of a slightly moisturising sunscreen for my body,I ended up with Biotique bio aloe vera sunscreen. It actually saved me time, now that I can skip moisturiser for my body.

Availability: Easily available in nearby stores and online.

Price & quantity: INR 199 for 120ml. (y) Pretty reasonable and this bottle will last you for atleast 2 months based on the usage.I apply it only once on the exposed parts before going out.My work is usually indoors so I needn’t reapply.

Ingredients: Aloe vera, sandalwood oil, sunflower oil, almond oil, zinc and rest is lotion base. This is going to be my favourite as it is entirely herbal and preservative free. Also, this is dermatologically tested.

IMG_20151025_130255_HDR

Fragrance: I could smell sandal. After applying it,the smell will go away in a minute. It is not overpowering.

Texture: White runny liquid which feels light on the skin and leaves a cooling sensation. Also,it doesn’t feel sticky.

Packaging: Biotique has come a long way in terms of packaging. Now it is sporting white and green bottles. This plastic bottle is white in color with self color design on it.The label has all the details about the product. It has a green cap screwed on the top.Even though it looks sturdy, but if by mistake you leave the cap even minutely loose, then it will leak. Also after opening the cap and using it,there is always some product sticking around the opening, which looks messy. So for travel,I will say wrap this lotion in a plastic for safety.

Claims: SPF 30 broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen.

My views: I have been using this regularly after bath in the morning. This sunscreen has kept my skin moisturised and I haven’t tanned a single bit with this. Also,I use this like I use a moisturiser.Even after 2 months,my bottle is half full. 🙂 This hasn’t caused any reaction nor it disturbed my eczema skin.

SPF 30 is normal for daily use that involves 1-2 hours in sun i.e. public transportation or quick market tours.  In India usually people prefer public transport.Since this is broad spectrum.this will prevent sunburns or ageing.

This bottle says it is for normal to oily skin for face.I usually don’t use this for face but once I tried this. This worked quite fine when my skin was dry. Yes! you read it right.I will say this works for dry skinned beauties as well, but if you are having flaky dryness, stay away as this will make it look worse. :-\ My T-zone needed little compact powder after using this.My suggestion will be use this for body. For face, opt for gel sunscreens for oily to combination skin and liquid or cream based for normal to dry skin.

Overall verdict is 4/5.I would have given it full if its packaging been more safe.Otherwise,at this price, you are getting broad spectrum sunscreen so a definite buy. 🙂
