My daily Autumn/Winter skincare routine

Heya!

It’s been a long time since I posted something. I am so sorry. 😦 I was caught up with the festivities around here.It involved home decorating, lighting the balconies with lamps and earthen pots and ofcourse, decorating yourself. 😉 If you are following me on Instagram, you may have seen me posting a video on my room decor and a picture of me in traditional attire and makeup for Diwali,an Indian festival of lights.

Now that I am finally over with them, let me post a skincare routine for women suffering from combination/dry/sensitive skin for autumn to winter season.Hope this helps you. 🙂

I follow a very simple daily skincare routine as I beleive we women, juggling from home to office don’t have so much time to pamper ourselves on a daily basis. :-\ I will post a weekly home facial routine soon for that extra time we reserve for ourselves on the weekends. 😉

I cleanse my face twice a day with Avene emollient cleansing gel for dry to sensitive skin. This cleans the face well but may make the skin bit drier. If I have makeup on,I remove it first prior to cleansing with coconut oil.

After cleansing ,I spray the Avene thermal springwater on my face and neck to tone the pores and also cool down my skin and reduce the redness.I have eczema patches on my cheek,so this has helped it a lot.I let it air dry.

I follow this with Patanjali aloe vera gel.I massage it gently all over my face and neck and wait for a minute or two to let it get absorbed.Aloe vera gel is good for dry flaky skin or sensitive skin.Actually for all skin types. Oily skin women may stop their skincare routine at this.Aloe vera gel moisturizes your skin, soothes the sensitive skin and reduces itchiness and dryness. It doesn’t clog the pores. I have done a post on goodness of aloe vera gel.Do check it out here.

Since I have dry patches,I apply Nevlon moisturizing cream on my dry patches for additional moisturization.I use this for daytime as this is readily absorbed into the skin without causing greasiness. For nightime or at home days,I use Avene Trixera+ selectiose emollient cream on the dry patches only, since this is very rice in nature. This is good for eczema people as it reduces the dryness.Check my instagram for 1 month result, where my flakiness disappeared after applying this.

For luscious lips,I have been using a natural lip balm from Puresuds. This is highly moisturizing and keeps my lips hydrated for 6-8 hours without eating/drinking and for 4-5 hours with drinking/eating.

This entire process takes approximately 4-5 minutes. 🙂 Isn’t that simple! You must have noticed that I am using Avene products a lot.In no way am I promoting or advertising for them.I am using the products as they are genuinely good for sensitive/problematic skin.I have seen the results and also my dermatologist suggested me to use. However, they are costly, atleast in India. But good things come at a price. 😛

Also,Nevlon ,Puresuds and Patanjali are Indian brands,so you may not find them in your country or online. But you can use their equivalent.I am sure aloe vera gel is hugely available worldwide,so is the lip balm containing shea butter or mango butter. You can use any moisturizing cream that suits you.

I have been following this routine for more than a month, and my skin texture has improved,so is the glow.Earlier I used to have serums in my routine but now I have kept it simple.

If you want me to review any of the products used above,do write in the comments section below. I will be happy to post on them.

Biotique bio aloe vera face & body sun lotion review

Hi beautiful!!

Autumn has arrived in India and there is a slight dip in temperature, specially at night, which is making me crave tea all the time. But the Sun is still shining brightly and daytimes are usually hot.

In summers,I had combination-oily skin and preferred using gel sunscreens for a matte and cooling effect. But nowadays my skin has turned drier and I am having combination-dry skin. :-\ I never skip sunscreen, specially for my body.Face can be covered with a scarf which I usually do to combat pollution, dust and sun. Infact, most of the Indian girls look like a dacoit during summers sporting covered faces. 😛 😀

In search of a slightly moisturising sunscreen for my body,I ended up with Biotique bio aloe vera sunscreen. It actually saved me time, now that I can skip moisturiser for my body.

Availability: Easily available in nearby stores and online.

Price & quantity: INR 199 for 120ml. (y) Pretty reasonable and this bottle will last you for atleast 2 months based on the usage.I apply it only once on the exposed parts before going out.My work is usually indoors so I needn’t reapply.

Ingredients: Aloe vera, sandalwood oil, sunflower oil, almond oil, zinc and rest is lotion base. This is going to be my favourite as it is entirely herbal and preservative free. Also, this is dermatologically tested.

IMG_20151025_130255_HDR

Fragrance: I could smell sandal. After applying it,the smell will go away in a minute. It is not overpowering.

Texture: White runny liquid which feels light on the skin and leaves a cooling sensation. Also,it doesn’t feel sticky.

Packaging: Biotique has come a long way in terms of packaging. Now it is sporting white and green bottles. This plastic bottle is white in color with self color design on it.The label has all the details about the product. It has a green cap screwed on the top.Even though it looks sturdy, but if by mistake you leave the cap even minutely loose, then it will leak. Also after opening the cap and using it,there is always some product sticking around the opening, which looks messy. So for travel,I will say wrap this lotion in a plastic for safety.

Claims: SPF 30 broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen.

My views: I have been using this regularly after bath in the morning. This sunscreen has kept my skin moisturised and I haven’t tanned a single bit with this. Also,I use this like I use a moisturiser.Even after 2 months,my bottle is half full. 🙂 This hasn’t caused any reaction nor it disturbed my eczema skin.

SPF 30 is normal for daily use that involves 1-2 hours in sun i.e. public transportation or quick market tours.  In India usually people prefer public transport.Since this is broad spectrum.this will prevent sunburns or ageing.

This bottle says it is for normal to oily skin for face.I usually don’t use this for face but once I tried this. This worked quite fine when my skin was dry. Yes! you read it right.I will say this works for dry skinned beauties as well, but if you are having flaky dryness, stay away as this will make it look worse. :-\ My T-zone needed little compact powder after using this.My suggestion will be use this for body. For face, opt for gel sunscreens for oily to combination skin and liquid or cream based for normal to dry skin.

Overall verdict is 4/5.I would have given it full if its packaging been more safe.Otherwise,at this price, you are getting broad spectrum sunscreen so a definite buy. 🙂

Avene Trixera+ Selectiose emollient cream review ( for dry/sensitive/eczema prone skin)

Heya!!

Today I will be reviewing the most sought after cream in dermatology and would like to share whether it stays true to its claims or not.

If you are following me closely, you would know that I have sensitive combination skin which turns drier during fall-winter season. This year I vowed to take extra care so as to not to flare up like last year. :-\  I got myself this cream and I must say, this is going to stay with me forever.

Availability: This is available only online as far I know,on all the renowned sites like Amazon, purplle etc in India. However,if someone knows any store in Delhi-NCR,do let me know. I got this from Abu Dhabi. This cream comes in 2 variants-200 and 400 ml.

Price & quantity: It is sold for INR 1500 for 200 ml on these sites but currently it is selling cheap for INR 1425 on Fortishealthworld.com, Keep a lookout for discounts online. The customs have made this a pricey affair so if possible get it from abroad like I did. For 200 ml ,this is indeed very costly but when it comes to skincare related to eczema,I can’t take any chances.

Fragrance: It doesn’t have any and it is also mentioned on the tube.

Ingredients:

• Avène Thermal Spring Water (50%) – Calms redness and irritation, soothes and softens

• Selectiose® (1%) – Helps control the skin’s inflammation response

• Lipidic-Trio (Essential fatty acids, Ceramides 3, Plant sterols) – Restores the skin’s barrier

• Glycine – Relieves itching

Packaging: It comes in a cardboard box which I threw away. Sorry. Inside it,there is a pamphlet which has details about the brand and their products description from Trixera+ line. The pamphlet is very helpful as you can choose products based on your skin. The tube is simple plastic white tube with flip cap. It is sturdy so no spillage.

Texture: White cream which comes out easily of the tube. It doesn’t feel heavy on the skin.It glides on the skin like a dream.

Usage: Apply 1/2 times in a day on very dry areas of the face and body.

What it claims:

• Patented Selectiose® reduces skin hypersensitivity and irritation and controls skin inflammation response

• Relieves itching

• Restores the skin’s barrier

• Prevents moisture loss and soothes irritation

• Suitable for infants, children and adults

• Fragrance-free, paraban-free

• Avène Thermal Spring Water to soothe and soften skin

• Hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic

My views: I have been using this judiciously and reviewing this after 15 days. After cleansing my face,I use it on my cheeks  which have a mild flare up now. I prefer this at night as it makes it look bit greasy and sticky. Also,at night skin products work the best as your skin is free from any pollution effects. I spread it on my cheeks gently and then start dabbing it lightly so as to not to irritate my skin further.

Only a pea sized amount goes a long way when you are applying on small areas like cheeks or chin. So I would say this tube will last me for a long time.

Honestly, this cream is not a miracle cream which will make your dryness or eczema go away in a jiffy. But in these 15 days,my skin looks smoother, less itchier and flaky. Also my skin looks softer. The redness has also reduced. I still have the flare up,but it is not noticeable now. 🙂 It hasn’t broken me out so that is a sure sign that it doesn’t clog the pores. I will keep on using this and will update after a month on my instagram.

Overall I am happy at how my skin is reacting to this. Avene is indeed a trustworthy brand and I did my research on it well before buying this stuff. Infact,I have bought many things from their range and soon I will post my thoughts on them too. This is not a promotion at all.If you are suffering from dry skin, eczema or sensitive skin,go ahead and buy this. This does work.

Skin care tips for Eczema prone people-Autumn/Winter season

Heya!

After a 2 week long hiatus,I got some time to post this. I wanted to write about something different, which has always been my companion.Since childhood,I am having an on & off relation with it and now,I have come to accept it. It has changed my thinking about the way I look and carry myself in the world.

Yes! I am talking about a skin condition. If you have followed me since the beginning,I had written some posts regarding it and now that again the chilly weather is going to set in India, this is the perfect time to share with you. I have been suffering from Atopic Dermatitis/Eczema/Itchy dry skin rash condition. It usually starts from childhood and is genetic in nature. If you have someone in your family who has this or is suffering from Asthma, then you are at risk.

I know you are thinking, what’s the relation between skin and lungs? My doctor told me that usually if you suppress lung condition,it shows on your skin and vice versa.I have the skin condition and my brother had Asthma.Luckily, his case got over in his teens only. 🙂 My family line from mom’s and dad’s side, have these and so I inherited them pretty easily. 😛 My dad’s side had Asthma and Psoriasis and my mom’s side, well my mom herself has eczema. :-\

When my allergies were suppressed,I developed cold and cough which refused to go away easily. This happened when I was taking Allopathy meds.Nowadays,I am currently on Homoeopathy again and they have balanced the two.Sometimes the allergies go away, sometimes they are just hovering on the skin.

In India, people are not aware of this and usually mistake it for skin rash and apply steroids or prickly heat powder. In doing so,you are basically harming the skin more.I have vowed to stay away from steroids myself.

Eczema is not communicable disease and usually it comes & goes with seasons, food intake or any allergent you are allergic to.With these things keeping in mind,I want to share some tips to go through it and embrace it,rather than feeling low . I walk with confidence and don’t care what people think.Nobody is perfect but everybody is beautiful in their own way. 🙂

  1. Since it is dry skin condition, moisturizing is the key. Wherever, you have dry flaky patches, apply creams.Creams are thicker than lotions & oils and provide more moisturization so use it according to the degree of dryness you have.On my body,I use coconut oil after bath.It is light in nature and gets readily absorbed, providing shine to the skin and softness.I have done a post on this. You can read it for how to use as a moisturizer. I use Avene Trixera cream on my cheeks twice a day.It soothes the skin, makes it less itchy and red.
  2. Your skin barrier is broken so it has lost its capacity to hold moisture and so the dryness. To repair the barrier,Take vitamins and supplements for the skin, either in the form of fruits and veggies or tablets. My doctor suggested me to take Vitamin A tab half yearly for a week.Currently I am having collagen tablets once a day for the skin for a month. Also I am applying hand cream at night called Logifeel cream which has Glycolic acid. This is required by the skin to keep it hydrated. This has actually made my hands appear more softer.
  3. Avoid exfoliating when you have eczema.Your skin is already inflamed and doing this will aggravate the dryness further.
  4. Cleansing is equally important to remove the rapid buildup of dead skin which is causing the flakiness and dryness.I use cream based cleansers during Autumn/winter as my skin becomes drier. My favourite is Aroma Magic aloe vera cleanser.I have done a review on it.You can check it out here. Also I am using Avene Trixera emollient cleanser.I am having trouble understanding this one though as it is bit drying in nature, but soothes the skin and reduces inflammation. So I don’t know why is is called emollient. For the body I am using Nutraclin cleanser .This one is my saviour since last winter.Read here what I like about it.
  5. Dry weather causes loss of moisture from the skin.So cover the areas which are exposed when going out.I usually cover my face with a scarf.Humidifiers are good for indoors. Also keep yourself hydrated by drinking water.
  6. Avoid taking long baths in hot water. They may feel relaxing but renders the skin drier.
  7. Even if you don’t have outbreak of eczema on your skin,it is best to follow the skincare strictly.Prevention is your friend.
  8. If you can’t stay away from makeup, then go for cream based or water based foundations. They will provide the moisturization. Also choose products wisely after seeing the ingredients.
  9. Aloe vera is a natural remedy for dryness and sensitive skin. Also shea butter, kokum butter etc are good natural alternatives for artificial creams. You can try them.I did a product review on aloe vera gel available .Check it out here.

All the above are personally tested by me and so far,are working for me.If you want to know more about eczema or maybe suggest something to deal with it,do pen it down in the comment box below. Also,to know about any product mentioned above, let me know in the comment section and I will do a review on it happily. 🙂

See you all in the next post, byeee, take care..:-* and Love Thyself.

DIY green tea toner

Heya!

It’s been a while I posted a DIY.Now,all of us are raving about the green tea and what it can do for the body. In fact, the moment I found out that it is loaded with so much nutrients that it acts as an all rounder for the body,I included in my diet instantly.

I read that green tea can be easily incorporated in your skin care as well. The lazy girl in me usually reads through such articles and then dozes off. 😛 But this baby right here, makes it too easy to ignore. You don’t have to do anything extra. Promise!

This toner is good for all skin types including sensitive skin. I didn’t have any reaction after using this. Also this is easy to make and store.

Benefits of green tea toner

  • Due to its antioxidants, it slows down ageing and diminishes signs of ageing.

  • It provides excellent sun protection and reduces sun damage.

  • Freshens up instantly

  • Improves skin texture

  • Reduces the appearance of skin conditions like eczema, rosacea and psoriasis

What you need

  1. Green tea- Packaged ones or open. I prefer the open ones as they are cheap

  2. Water- Obvious 😀

  3. A spritzer bottle or ice cube tray

How to make

  1. Make the green tea as usual. Now to make the perfect green tea, either put 1 tsp green tea in 1 cup of boiling water and let it steep for a min. Then sieve it.Or pour the boiling water on the seive containing the green tea and let it steep for a minute. One minute is the optimum time for the leaves and it provides the perfect color and taste.Green tea is supposed to be tasteless and works best without sugar.Beyond 1 minute,it will turn bitter. :-\

  2. Now let this tea cool down and store it in spritzer bottle and refrigerate it.You can also make ice cubes and use them after thawing a little.

  3. Another method is drink the tea first and then use the leftover green tea again.I prefer this method.I pour normal water on the green tea and let it soak for another minute or 2.Then I store it.

  4. Basically you are recycling the green tea as they still have the juices left. Use the toner within 3 days as after that it will lose its properties.Green tea gets oxidised easily.

How to use

After cleaning your face, spray it and let it air dry,or rub it on your skin and let it dry.

My views

My skin does feel refreshed and soothed. Also my eczema patches on the cheeks look less inflamed. My skin gets a taut feeling after using this.

Do try this and let me know how it worked for you.If you try it,tag me.I love when people share the same enthusiasm. 🙂

Thats some recycled bottle. 😛

See you all in my next post, byeee, take care lovelies! :-*

Juicy Chemistry Cell construction serum review

Heya!

I know,I know,I am posting again on the same brand. But I can’t help it.It was sent to me for review and I have to give a verdict, right? 😛 Also,I am genuinely loving the product,so decided to share my views on it.

I had never used a serum before,so was desperately looking for a serum which would suit my combination sensitive skin.Looks like,God answered my prayers in the form of this tiny bottle sent to me by the Juicy Chemistry . 🙂

I had notified them about my skin beforehand and so they felt this will do justice to my skin. So,here goes the review.

What they claim:It is formulated with ingredients that are highly Cicatrisant(anti-scarring properties). Our serum penetrates deeply into the skin and works to heal and regenerate damaged skin.

For best use,use it every night.

The product when used regularly results in diminishing:-

  • acne scars
  • hyper-pigmentation
  • stretch marks
  • dark spots
  • fine lines & wrinkles

Price: INR 300 for 8ml which I find affordable as it will last you a long time.

Ingredients:Rosehipseed oil,jojoba oil,almond oil,carrotseed oil,lavender oil,frankincense oil,geranium essential oil,neroli essential oil and helichrysum essenial oil.

Usage: 3-4 drops for the face and neck combined.

Packaging: Comes in a small glass bottle having a dropper cap.Unscrew the cap and use the attached dropper.

Smell:I cannot describe the exact fragrance to which it resembles but it is pleasant and an organic smell.

Availability: Only through Facebook and whatsapp.I hope they come up with their site. :-/ Also, they take the payment through bank transfer.Internationally,I don’t think they deliver. :-/ But I do hope, they start shipping outside India soon.

My views: I use the serum after toning my face.I apply it by patting gently on the skin.Serums are concentrated oils so 3-4 drops are sufficient ,also,it should not be rubbed onto the skin.Gentle application is the key. 🙂

It gets absorbed quickly and doesn’t make my skin oily or dry.I did not notice any redness or tingling feeling so this can work for sensitive skin beauties.

The smell will go away within a minute of application so those having a sensitive nose, will not find any problem.

I have been using this since a month and I am actually happy to say that this serum works in removing the dark spots, scars and hyper-pigmentation. I don’t have spots that much but a weird pimple caused a dark spot on my forehead a month back, which has literally gone away now. 🙂 Also, my skin looks more clear and hydrated. This imparts a glow when you wake up in the morning.I don’t have wrinkles so can’t comment on it.Also,I haven’t used it for stretch marks as it will get finished quickly if I start using for my body. 😛 I am not ashamed to admit I have loads of those white lines on my body. 🙂

The price tag is also nice as I have only got to 1/4th of the bottle even after a month’s usage.

I will rate it 5/5 and I am definitely buying it once I finish my bottle.

They are taking orders through facebook and whatsapp as of now.Their no. is 91-9655663566.I have also reviewed a product from their range last weekend. Here’s the link if you missed it.

IMG_20150711_112519_HDR IMG_20150708_235340 IMG_20150708_235408

Do let me know whether this serum worked for you or  not.Feel free to ask me questions. 🙂 See you all in my next post. Byeeee :-*

Bio organic and natural aloe vera gel review

Heya !!

To be honest,Sunday is the day when I am the laziest and I ignore my skincare and haircare so that I get to sleep. But my swimming lessons in the early morning, even on the weekends is robbing me off my sleep.:-( I took a pledge today that health is first priority so I am limiting my sleep to 6 hours daily. That means no more late night TV shows. (Sorry Orphan Black!Find yourself another fan. :-P)

I did a hairspa at home on my smoothened hair. No! I didn’t use the expensive Loreal range on my hair, rather I looted my kitchen. 😛 It’s just a strategy of the salons to make you buy their products, scaring you into believing that smoothening will go away if any other product is used. Bleh!Don’t get fooled.Read articles on the net,and you will know why I am saying this. 🙂

Enough rambling!I was sent this gel from the BON team for review purposes and after a month’s usage,I am ready to share my opinions. 🙂

Price: INR 119 for 100g which is dirt cheap. 🙂

Availibility: Currently they are taking orders only through their site. You will numerous ranges-Skincare,haircare,home,pets etc.

Texture: This one won my heart truly. Earlier I used to apply Patanjali aloe vera gel but after using this,I am changing my staple gel to BON aloe vera gel. This gel doesn’t contain artificial colouring agent like in Patanjali. Also, this is very light and glides easily on the skin. You need 5 dots on your face to cover it completely.Skin absorbs it right away.

Packaging: Plastic transparent jar with a white screwed cap. This also got a dent on its side and a slight leakage due to shipping. 😦 So may not be travel friendly.Overall simple packaging which I love the most.

Fragrance: No

My views: I use this once a day after my bath. After applying the toner,I dot my face with this and its gone instantly. This gel is sufficient in moisturising my combination skin and I am ready to go outside with a sunscreen on top of this.I used this on my trip to Kashmir where its chilly. There also this baby survived the test.So for normal, oily and combination skin, this will work all year round.Dry skin beauties may need to add moisturizer after applying this gel.

I have sensitive skin,so after applying this,I didn’t find anything wrong .No redness or tingling feeling.Infact it cools down my skin and reduces the redness. However,do conduct a patch test first.

Nutraclin body cleanser review

Heya ladies!

I have been looking at Caitlyn’s photo(Yes! The famous picture that is being circulated on the internet and Omg,she’s glamorous.) and that’s when it occurred to me,that there are other beautiful ladies all over the world to whom I made a promise to blog  regularly.

So I opened my notes app on my phone, checked which product I have to write about and chose a body wash for you. 🙂 My phone is my diary.I click pictures, take notes and edit them.It is all in there. I have heard that to be a good blogger, one needs to have a DSLR or a high end editing software. I find it hilarious. 😛 As long as the picture or video you are posting is visible enough to spot the letters and no.s in it,why spend so much on a bulky camera or high end software?

I have been using this bodywash since January 15 and it will last me another month and half easily. This product is marketed by a company called Ethicare Remedies. They work closely with dermatologists, cosmetologists and plastic surgeons. So their products are safe to use for skin and hair and targets the problem areas if you have any. For me,this is the first company who claims to have products suitable for my eczema-prone sensitive combination skin. After reading on them,I decided to try their cream and bodywash. I have already reviewed the cream HydromaxCT earlier.Link is given below. To know more about this company and their products, check their website below.Till now, they have shipped to Mauritius, Dubai, Bangladesh, Yemen & Nepal;and expanding further. If you want to buy something, contact on their email given in the site.

Official website: http://www.ethicare.in/

HydromaxCT review: https://simplybful.wordpress.com/2015/03/29/hydromaxct-cream-review/

Price: INR 159 for 250 ml which is cool, really. This will actually last you a long time .Also, they give a free loofah which is of good quality.

Availability: Only available on their website and also Amazon.in. I am eagerly waiting when they will be available in nearby stores.

Smell: Glycerine-ish smell which is not too strong.

Ingredients: Given in the picture below.I didn’t like the presence of SLS and SLES. It could have been avoided but I guess, for lather purposes it is required. 😦

Packaging: Plastic bottle with a flip-top cap which is sturdy for travel purposes.

Texture: It has clear gel consistency which is not too runny.

Usage: Since it lathers well,so small quantity is required. Differs from person to person.

My view: I absolutely love it and it was my knight in shining armour when I was plagued with eczema during winters.I took the courage to go outside without applying moisturiser after bath to see its effects and I was surprised. It kept my skin soft even without a moisturiser that too during the harsh winter. In summers, due to the presence of hot blowing winds in Delhi, you may need a moisturiser. It has immense quantity of glycerine in it so that’s why it keeps the skin soft.Since it is a neutral Ph cleanser,it is safe to use.

If you are a lover of lather, this won’t disappoint you. 😉 It cleans the skin well and refreshes you .It is economical since it lasts a long time and that too within your budget. If your skin is dry and sensitive, you should go for it.Normal skinned people can also opt for this.

PS: If you have cuts or wounds,it might sting you because of glycerine in it.Also,do a patch test before. This is my honest review.I haven’t been sponsored in anyway.

My current skincare routine-Sensitive combination skin (Summer time)

Heya beautiful ladies!!!

By this time you must have noticed that I am a weekend person, when it comes to posting anything.Weekdays are the most hectic part of my life,so it is quite tough to write anything during that time. Now,you must be thinking,”She should get a life.Who sits at home during weekends?” 😛 Well! I usually prefer my weekends at home,as in India, you don’t want to venture out in the heat and also,I am quite a lazy person. 😀

Anyway, today my post is about the skincare I am following currently. As of now,my skin is having small dry patches on the cheeks and an oily T-zone.Firstly,I don’t wear make-up on a daily basis so this skincare routine is different. So,I will include details regarding  minimal to no make-up skin only.

I would like to say that till date,I haven’t found a single product which controls my T-zone but doesn’t strip moisture from my dry cheeks. 😦 so I have to use more products. Infact, this is not wrong. You are using the products which suit your type. But,if anyone knows of an item,please….. please let me know of it,as I am getting tired in searching for that One product for my entire face.

IMG_20150502_125731 IMG_20150502_114836-001

In the morning,I wash my face with lukewarm water. This opens up the pores.I apply Aroma magic aloe vera cleanser on my cheeks, neck  and chin and massage it gently. On my T-zone,I apply the Aroma treasures aloe vera face wash. This removes the excess oil and controls the shine for sometime.I wash everything off with cold water.I prefer using these 2 as they are mild cleansers and in the morning, you don’t want excessive cleaning of the face. After that I apply my Fabindia tea tree oil toner with a cotton ball, on my T-zone mainly. This controls the oil and prevents acne.I wait for a minute ,then apply aloe vera gel on my face and neck.During summers,no moisturiser works for me so I prefer aloe vera gel, which soothes the skin, prevents infections, nourishes the skin and is good for my eczematic skin.On my dry patches,I apply a little amount of aloe vera cold cream.A  little goes a long way when it comes to applying it,as it is effective in moistening the patches. Then I go for my Lotus Herbals sunscreen matte gel SPF 50.This is my go to sunscreen. It is my favourite because it actually mattifies the skin, sweat proof ,doesn’t make a whitish cast on face and also non-clogging.I apply just a coloured liner on my upper lids and a coloured lip balm.On my T-zone,I use compact powder and then I am out for the day.

In the night, first,I take a cotton ball, put 1-2 drops of coconut oil on it,and gently wipe my liner off.Coconut oil is an excellent make-up remover.Try it.Then, after washing with lukewarm water,I use the Clean & clear Blackhead clearing face wash on my T-zone,since this actually removes the blackheads, cleans the dirt and removes the oil.For my other parts,I use the Episoft cleanser. This cleanses the skin without irritating it.After washing everything off with cold water,I use the toner and aloe vera gel. Then the cold cream for my dry patches.I literally slather my lips with Maybelline Electropop tangy and fierce. This is my love.Keeps my lips soft for the entire night.

Once a week,I use the Ozone skin awakening scrub. If I am tanned, then I follow it with Just herbs almond complexion pack, which removes the tan and is good in oil-control.But I don’t use it often as it dries out my skin too much. Also, most days when I am too tired to use different cleansers for my skin,I use my DIY face cleanser.Does the job well.

Most of the products I have already reviewed  or explained earlier. But ,if you want,I can review the other products.Let me know of it in the comment box below. Also, all the products are available on major shopping sites like Amazon,Flipkart etc, specially for people residing outside India.

If your skin type is like mine, you can try this.Till the next time,Byeee… XOXO :-*

PS: I am an avid believer in the goodness of Aloe vera,so I can’t live without it.It worked for me during my eczema flare-up in the winters. :-\

DIY face cleanser for all skin types

Heya beauties!!! 🙂

How’s your weekend going on? 😉

As you maybe knowing, I am a sucker for herbal products. But the products we buy from the stores, are not entirely organic. They are having some or the other preservatives, which diminishes the purpose of herbal ingredients. All herbal products should have less shelf life specially if they are in liquid form, say paste, like a week or two. And for powder form,it can stay till a month or so, provided they are kept in air-tight containers. 😦 So, I decided to make my own herbal beauty product using easily available ingredients from the kitchen or garden.

I am starting with a face cleanser suitable for all skin types including eczema , sensitive skin or acne-prone skin and a shelf life of a month.

INGREDIENTS

  • turmeric
  • besan or gram flour or chickpea flour
  • oats
  • honey(optional)

Turmeric-It is endowed with antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties so suitable for wounds, acne etc; It contains a compound known as ‘curcumin’ which forms the yellow pigment; this in turn functions as a coloring agent to impart a brighter skin complexion.Turmeric is an anti-oxidant that assists in attacking free radicals to give a youthful looking skin, devoid of rashes and other disorders.

Besan or gram flour or chickpea flour- It makes your skin smooth and radiant.Helps in removing tan and is a popular ingredient for skin lightening. It reduces oiliness and fights pimples. Also, removes dead cells, excess sebum and dirt quite effectively,so acts as a good scrub.Regular use reduces unwanted hair.

Oats-It absorbs and removes excess oil and bacteria from your skin and exfoliates dead skin cells, thus helping to combat acne.Oats are effective in fighting dull, flaky dryness as they contain polysaccharides, which become gelatinous in water. They form a fine protective film when applied on skin.It is effective in addressing dry skin symptoms like itching, rashes, scales, peeling etc.It contains beta-glucan that forms a fine film on your skin as well as penetrates deep into the skin to provide much needed deep moisturizing to your skin.It enhances wound healing and shallow abrasions and improves collagen deposition and activation of immune cells within the skin, helpful during chicken pox and poison ivy.Oats have anti-inflammatory properties and are suitable for all skin types. They are clinically effective in healing dry and itchy skin.Hence, can be used for eczema or dry skin related diseases.Oats are known for their skin lightening effects as well as improving the skin tone and texture and smoothing out blotchy areas.Oats contain natural cleansers called saponins that can remove dirt and oil from the pores without causing irritation. It leaves behind soft and silky skin and reduces pore size.

Honey-It is anti-bacterial in nature so good for acne-prone skin. Also,it is moisturizing so good for skin as it doesn’t strip it off its natural oils.

5. It should look like pale yellow powder. To this, you can add honey 2 tsps.I didn’t add it here, because unluckily, didn’t had it that time. 😦 But both the results are good for skin.

USAGE

Take a tsp size in your hand.Add water or milk to it to make a thick paste.Rub it in your palms and then apply it as you usually do with a facewash. You can keep this for a minute to act as facepack or wash it off immediatly.

PS: Do a patch test first because everyone has different skin.Even though the ingredients used here, shouldn’t cause any problem but to be on the safer side,do it.If there is itching or redness, discontinue the use.

If you tried this cleanser, let me know.I want to know whether this worked for you or not.I love hearing from you all. 🙂

Till the next post, byeee,tc, XOXO :-*
