My daily Autumn/Winter skincare routine

Heya!

It’s been a long time since I posted something. I am so sorry. 😦 I was caught up with the festivities around here.It involved home decorating, lighting the balconies with lamps and earthen pots and ofcourse, decorating yourself. πŸ˜‰ If you are following me on Instagram, you may have seen me posting a video on my room decor and a picture of me in traditional attire and makeup for Diwali,an Indian festival of lights.

Now that I am finally over with them, let me post a skincare routine for women suffering from combination/dry/sensitive skin for autumn to winter season.Hope this helps you. πŸ™‚

I follow a very simple daily skincare routine as I beleive we women, juggling from home to office don’t have so much time to pamper ourselves on a daily basis. :-\ I will post a weekly home facial routine soon for that extra time we reserve for ourselves on the weekends. πŸ˜‰

I cleanse my face twice a day with Avene emollient cleansing gel for dry to sensitive skin. This cleans the face well but may make the skin bit drier. If I have makeup on,I remove it first prior to cleansing with coconut oil.

After cleansing ,I spray the Avene thermal springwater on my face and neck to tone the pores and also cool down my skin and reduce the redness.I have eczema patches on my cheek,so this has helped it a lot.I let it air dry.

I follow this with Patanjali aloe vera gel.I massage it gently all over my face and neck and wait for a minute or two to let it get absorbed.Aloe vera gel is good for dry flaky skin or sensitive skin.Actually for all skin types. Oily skin women may stop their skincare routine at this.Aloe vera gel moisturizes your skin, soothes the sensitive skin and reduces itchiness and dryness. It doesn’t clog the pores. I have done a post on goodness of aloe vera gel.Do check it out here.

Since I have dry patches,I apply Nevlon moisturizing cream on my dry patches for additional moisturization.I use this for daytime as this is readily absorbed into the skin without causing greasiness. For nightime or at home days,I use Avene Trixera+ selectiose emollient cream on the dry patches only, since this is very rice in nature. This is good for eczema people as it reduces the dryness.Check my instagram for 1 month result, where my flakiness disappeared after applying this.

For luscious lips,I have been using a natural lip balm from Puresuds. This is highly moisturizing and keeps my lips hydrated for 6-8 hours without eating/drinking and for 4-5 hours with drinking/eating.

This entire process takes approximately 4-5 minutes. πŸ™‚ Isn’t that simple! You must have noticed that I am using Avene products a lot.In no way am I promoting or advertising for them.I am using the products as they are genuinely good for sensitive/problematic skin.I have seen the results and also my dermatologist suggested me to use. However, they are costly, atleast in India. But good things come at a price. πŸ˜›

Also,Nevlon ,Puresuds and Patanjali are Indian brands,so you may not find them in your country or online. But you can use their equivalent.I am sure aloe vera gel is hugely available worldwide,so is the lip balm containing shea butter or mango butter. You can use any moisturizing cream that suits you.

I have been following this routine for more than a month, and my skin texture has improved,so is the glow.Earlier I used to have serums in my routine but now I have kept it simple.

If you want me to review any of the products used above,do write in the comments section below. I will be happy to post on them.

DIY green tea toner

Heya!

It’s been a while I posted a DIY.Now,all of us are raving about the green tea and what it can do for the body. In fact, the moment I found out that it is loaded with so much nutrients that it acts as an all rounder for the body,I included in my diet instantly.

I read that green tea can be easily incorporated in your skin care as well. The lazy girl in me usually reads through such articles and then dozes off. πŸ˜› But this baby right here, makes it too easy to ignore. You don’t have to do anything extra. Promise!

This toner is good for all skin types including sensitive skin. I didn’t have any reaction after using this. Also this is easy to make and store.

Benefits of green tea toner

  • Due to its antioxidants, it slows down ageing and diminishes signs of ageing.

  • It provides excellent sun protection and reduces sun damage.

  • Freshens up instantly

  • Improves skin texture

  • Reduces the appearance of skin conditions like eczema, rosacea and psoriasis

What you need

  1. Green tea- Packaged ones or open. I prefer the open ones as they are cheap

  2. Water- Obvious πŸ˜€

  3. A spritzer bottle or ice cube tray

How to make

  1. Make the green tea as usual. Now to make the perfect green tea, either put 1 tsp green tea in 1 cup of boiling water and let it steep for a min. Then sieve it.Or pour the boiling water on the seive containing the green tea and let it steep for a minute. One minute is the optimum time for the leaves and it provides the perfect color and taste.Green tea is supposed to be tasteless and works best without sugar.Beyond 1 minute,it will turn bitter. :-\

  2. Now let this tea cool down and store it in spritzer bottle and refrigerate it.You can also make ice cubes and use them after thawing a little.

  3. Another method is drink the tea first and then use the leftover green tea again.I prefer this method.I pour normal water on the green tea and let it soak for another minute or 2.Then I store it.

  4. Basically you are recycling the green tea as they still have the juices left. Use the toner within 3 days as after that it will lose its properties.Green tea gets oxidised easily.

How to use

After cleaning your face, spray it and let it air dry,or rub it on your skin and let it dry.

My views

My skin does feel refreshed and soothed. Also my eczema patches on the cheeks look less inflamed. My skin gets a taut feeling after using this.

Do try this and let me know how it worked for you.If you try it,tag me.I love when people share the same enthusiasm. πŸ™‚

See you all in my next post, byeee, take care lovelies! :-*

Beauty tip -5

Monsoons or humid weather plays a havoc on the skin.Acne, blackheads and shiny T-zone would most likely be saying hello to you during this time. 😛
To avoid that, skip the toner. Toners make the skin sticky and attracts dust and grime.Try applying icecube on the face and neck after wrapping it with a soft cloth like cotton or muslin.Direct application is not advisable.
Ice cubes shrink the pores, keeps the skin cool and your makeup stays longer minus the stickiness. Also, its cheap.

Beauty tip-1

Summers are here and we crave for everything cold.Infact its good for the skin .;)
Apply ice in circular motions on your face after washing it.It tightens your pores and keeps the makeup longlasting.☺
Also,its easily available and cheap.

Fabindia Tea Tree Toner Review

Hi everyone!

The 3-step skin routine is essentially important. So keeping that in mind,I went out looking for that miracle toner which actually works. And here I am.I am on my second bottle of this wonderful toner,so thought of giving a review on it.
This tea tree toner by Fabindia is a boon for all the oily skin or combination skin beauties. The product comes in a spray bottle which is efficient in getting the correct amount of sprayed product.

Availibility- It can be bought online or in their store.I got it in TGIP mall,Noida.

Price-It retails for 150 INR for 100ml which according to me is decent pricing.

Product packaging is very apt.The toner is light greenish in color and just 2-3 sprays are sufficient for your face and neck.

Ingredients-Check the pictures below. It does have tea tree oil.

Usage-Spray it on a cotton swab and apply it on your clean face and neck .

Thought-Tea tree helps in fighting the pimple bacteria so a must have for me.Though it doesn’t dry the skin that much but I wouldn’t advise this for dry skin. This toner keeps the skin fresh, reduces the appearance of blackheads and pores and keeps the skin oil-free to some extent.I have used it religiously after every wash, and noticed that pimple burst has reduced which is a blessing.

I am using this on my T-zone only during the winters and it is working fine.I have used this in the summer and winter and I can say that it’s a must for every girl who has acne-prone skin and wants a toner which doesn’t dry out the skin.

Warning-avoid contact with eyes. Also people suffering from any skin condition should also avoid it,since it stings.(includes cuts or wounds as well).
